Faculty Positions

The Department of Psychology at Western Kentucky University invites applications for an entry-level, tenure-track position in clinical psychology to begin August 15, 2010. The position involves undergraduate and graduate teaching; supervision of practica, internships, and master’s theses; research; and service. Required qualifications include an earned doctorate in clinical psychology from an APA-approved program, broad training, and eligibility for Kentucky license. Preferred qualifications include teaching experience, evidence of the potential to develop a productive research program that will engage students, immediate eligibility for licensure in Kentucky, and expertise in alcohol and drug issues, health psychology, or neuropsychology. Psychology is among the largest undergraduate majors at Western, with approximately 550 students, and the largest full-time graduate program. Undergraduate students can select either the traditional 36-hour major with a minor area of study or the extended 51-hour major which does not require a minor. The Department also offers an undergraduate minor in psychology. Graduate students can select from M.A. options in clinical psychology, experimental psychology, Industrial and organizational psychology, and an Ed.S. program in school psychology. Fully staffed, the Department has 34 full-time and 20 regular part-time and adjunct faculty. Historically, Psychology has been among the most research productive departments at WKU.
