MNEMONIC STRATEGIES

Finding ways to create images for words or phrases can help you remember them.  Make the words personal and they will become permanent in your mind.  Make a verbal connection, an image, or a picture in your mind.

Example:        to remember the colors in a rainbow

                                                            ROY G. BIV

Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet

Example:  Do you know how to spell friend?

Remember:  You will always have a friend in the “end”.

Example:      to remember the order of the directions on a compass rose

                                                  North, East, South, West

                                                  Never Eat Soggy Waffles
