Try Skimming to Reduce Large Amounts
of Reading |
If you are having trouble reading large amounts of text in one of your college classes, try skimming the text and the material.
What does it mean to skim the text?
Skimming is reading the text quickly to find main ideas. It is like when you read the newspaper. You don’t read it word for word. You skim through the text to see if you want to read the article more closely.
Handy Tip: You may want to read the first and last paragraph of the document. Then if you need additional information, read the first and last sentence of each paragraph.
Practice the skimming technique at the following website.
