LTC Jason T. Caldwell, a native of Fulton, Kentucky, enlisted in the U.S. Army as a Military Policeman in 1985. After serving 5 years as an enlisted Soldier, LTC Caldwell received a Green to Gold Scholarship to attend the University of Tennessee at Martin (UTM). LTC Caldwell was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant, United States Army Signal Corps Officer upon graduation from UTM in 1992 with a Bachelors of Science in Criminal Justice.
After completing the Signal Officer Basic Course, LTC Caldwell was assigned to Schofield Barracks, HI. LTC Caldwell served at Schofield Barracks from 1993 until 1996. While at Schofield, he served as Platoon Leader and Company Executive officer with the 125th Signal Battalion, 25th Infantry Division; Battalion Signal Officer for 4th Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment. LTC Caldwell deployed to Haiti with 1st PLT, ACO/125th Signal Battalion during Operation Uphold Democracy in 1994.
LTC Caldwell graduated from the Signal Officer Advance course in 1996, and then was reassigned to the 101st Airborne Division, FT Campbell, KY. LTC Caldwell served as the Battalion S6 for 2-320 Field Artillery Battalion from 1996-1998 and then as the Division Artillery S6 from 1998-2001. LTC Caldwell commanded Alpha Company, 501st Signal Battalion from 2001 to 2003. During his command he deployed his company to Operation Iraqi Freedom providing voice and data communications to the Division Command Post, 1st Brigade Combat Team and 159th AVN Regiment. LTC Caldwell relinquished command in Mosul Iraq, returned to Fort Campbell, and PCS’ed to FT Rucker, AL.
LTC Caldwell served at the Combined Arms Division Chief at the Aviation School from SEP 2003 to AUG 2004. He then was selected to attend the Air Command and Staff Course (ACSC) at Maxwell Air Force Base, AL. After graduating from ACSC, MAJ Caldwell was reassigned to the 101st Airborne Division in July 2005.
LTC Caldwell was assigned as the 101st Division Special Troops Battalion (DSTB) S3 in July 2005 and deployed back to Iraq in September 2005. MAJ Caldwell served at the S3 and as the Base Defense Operations OIC for Camp Speicher in Tikrit. After returning from OIF-IV MAJ Caldwell served as the Battalion Executive Officer for the 101st DSTB.
LTC Caldwell’s awards include the Bronze Star Medal (BSM) (two), Meritorious Service Medal (MSM) (two), Army Commendation Medal (ARCOM) (three), Good Conduct Medal, Army Achievement Medal (two), National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Meritorious Unit Award (two), Iraqi Campaign Service, National Defense Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon (three), Non-Commission Officer Professional Development Ribbon and Global War on Terrorism Medal.
