Dear KAELI Participants,

to the THIRD Kentucky Adult Educators Literacy Institute!  This letter walks you through all the steps necessary to get you successfully enrolled for credit from WKU and to prepare you for the 3-Day Seminar July 19-21, 2004.

  1. You should have already applied for the Graduate School at WKU if you are not currently enrolled.  You can find all the information you need for that at this address:  http://www.wku.edu/Dept/Academic/Graduate/admain.html
If you have NOT applied for Graduate School you need to do that TODAY.  DO NOT send the $30 application fee as this is paid for through funding from the Council on Postsecondary Education.

  2. When you have been accepted into Graduate School, you need to register for LTCY 444G (May session 2004) or LTCY 444, if you are an undergraduate student.  Please send the following information PLUS your NAME, SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER, and a request for a COURSE PASS to mary.epley@wku.edu .  She will issue you the course pass and email you with further directions.
    Crse:
LTCY 444 (undergraduate) or LTCY 444G (graduate)
    Hours credit:  3.00

  3. There are no books for you to purchase.  Those will be provided for you at the seminar.

  4. Please check the materials that Toni-Ann sent you regarding arrival times, places, and other logistics that you need to know.

  5. The syllabus for LTCY 444/G is located here:  http://www.pampetty.com/kaeli3/444gsyllabus.htm

Now on with the fun!  To prepare you for the professional development you will receive at the 3-Day Seminar in July, we have prepared some "pre-seminar" materials for you.  These are interesting and light readings that will provide you with opportunities for personal responses, will begin to help you question and plan for what you hope to receive from the 3-Day Seminar, and will get us all started "on the same page."  Read carefully and follow the directions below.  As always, Pam, Sherry, and Cassie are here to assist you in any way.  Please do not hesitate to contact us with your questions, concerns, or problems.

Enjoy this great day and expect great things starting on May 10th!
Sincerely,

Pam
