Rank I Guidance (Counseling)
General Information
Rank I is designed to provide preparation and competency in various curriculum areas for school counselor candidates. Each student's program is specifically designed, in consultation with the student's advisor, to meet the professional and academic needs of the student.
Application and Admission Procedures
Application to the Rank I program must be made through the Office of Graduate Studies. All Graduate Studies requirements must be met. The application will then be referred to the Counselor Programs Unit, where an advisor will be assigned. A minimal two-year, sixty-hour, planned program of course work, including a master's degree, is required. In addition to the education requirements for the standard certification, one must have completed one year as a school counselor. Many students complete the course work prior to completing the experience requirements.
