General Information
The Professional Counseling and Marriage and Family Therapy programs are accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP).
Applicants to this 60-hour program must first meet Graduate Studies GAP score (GPA x GRE) requirements for admission. In addition, the student must have either a score of 1350 on the Graduate Record Examination, OR a minimum grade point average of 2.9 on the last 30 hours of course work in the undergraduate degree program. If neither of these requirements is met, the student may submit, in writing, a waiver petition and then meet in person with the counseling faculty. Courses in options listed below may not be altered without permission of the student's advisor and the counseling faculty.

Notes
1: CNS 558 (Theories of Counseling) is a prerequisite
2: To enroll in practicum the student must have completed the following prerequisites: Fifteen hours in counseling courses including the following courses: 554, 558, 559, 560 and one additional course.
3: The Professional Counseling program requires three internships for a total of 900 hours. Internship must be taken over a period of three semesters (one internship per semester). Any deviation from this policy requires approval from the counseling unit at least one month before the semester begins. CNS 591 Practicum is a prerequisite for enrolling in internship.
