Primary Roles and Responsibilities
Oversees academic programs in the college
Services provided:
- Supports faculty initiatives to create and revise academic programs and courses
- Assists faculty in developing curricular change proposals and changes to catalog listings
- Advises faculty on academic program issues and university curricular change processes
- Chairs CEBS Curriculum Committee
- Serves as vice chair of the Professional Education Council
- Represents the college at University Curriculum Committee and Graduate Council meetings
- Supports faculty efforts related to academic program quality, such as preparing Academic Program Review self-studies
- Reviews all CEBS recruitment materials and websites
Supervises graduate admissions and MAE comprehensive exams in CEBS
Services provided:
- Serves as contact person for prospective graduate students
- Reviews all applications for admission to graduate programs
- Serves as resource person in resolving admissions problems and concerns
- Chairs CEBS Alternate Admission Subcommittee
- Coordinates administration of MAE comprehensive exams
- Reviews applications for MAE comprehensive exams to determine eligibility
Oversees advising and other student services
Services provided:
- Serves as contact person for prospective undergraduate students
- Consults with faculty on advising issues
- Serves as resource person in resolving issues concerning degree requirements, teacher admissions, teacher certification, and student teaching
- Assists students experiencing academic, advising, or scheduling difficulties
- Assists faculty in addressing student conduct problems
- Chairs CEBS Complaint Committee
- Reviews all Student Schedule Exception Requests, grade appeals, overload requests, independent study requests, etc.
- Supports faculty efforts related to recruitment and retention of students
- Represents the college on committees related to advising, scheduling, recruitment, etc.
- Coordinates processes of selecting and recognizing student award winners in the college
Promotes faculty welfare and professional development
Services provided:
- Coordinates new faculty orientation
- Supports new faculty acclimation to the college and university
- Develops programs for faculty development
- Serves as resource person for faculty concerns
Coordinates MAE program in Education and Behavioral Science Studies
Services provided:
- Serves as contact person for prospective students
- Reviews applications for program admission
- Chairs program advisory committee
- Assigns advisors and arranges comprehensive exams
- Develops program assessment plan and facilitates collection of assessment data from faculty
- Coordinates periodic review of curriculum, admission requirements, etc.
