Primary Roles and Responsibilities

  • Oversees academic programs in the college

        Services provided:
    1. Supports faculty initiatives to create and revise academic programs and courses
    2. Assists faculty in developing curricular change proposals and changes to catalog listings
    3. Advises faculty on academic program issues and university curricular change processes
    4. Chairs CEBS Curriculum Committee
    5. Serves as vice chair of the Professional Education Council
    6. Represents the college at University Curriculum Committee and Graduate Council meetings
    7. Supports faculty efforts related to academic program quality, such as preparing Academic Program Review self-studies
    8. Reviews all CEBS recruitment materials and websites
  • Supervises graduate admissions and MAE comprehensive exams in CEBS

        Services provided:
    1. Serves as contact person for prospective graduate students
    2. Reviews all applications for admission to graduate programs
    3. Serves as resource person in resolving admissions problems and concerns
    4. Chairs CEBS Alternate Admission Subcommittee
    5. Coordinates administration of MAE comprehensive exams
    6. Reviews applications for MAE comprehensive exams to determine eligibility
  • Oversees advising and other student services

        Services provided:
    1. Serves as contact person for prospective undergraduate students
    2. Consults with faculty on advising issues
    3. Serves as resource person in resolving issues concerning degree requirements, teacher admissions, teacher certification, and student teaching
    4. Assists students experiencing academic, advising, or scheduling difficulties
    5. Assists faculty in addressing student conduct problems
    6. Chairs CEBS Complaint Committee
    7. Reviews all Student Schedule Exception Requests, grade appeals, overload requests, independent study requests, etc.
    8. Supports faculty efforts related to recruitment and retention of students
    9. Represents the college on committees related to advising, scheduling, recruitment, etc.
    10. Coordinates processes of selecting and recognizing student award winners in the college
  • Promotes faculty welfare and professional development

        Services provided:
    1. Coordinates new faculty orientation
    2. Supports new faculty acclimation to the college and university
    3. Develops programs for faculty development
    4. Serves as resource person for faculty concerns
  • Coordinates MAE program in Education and Behavioral Science Studies

        Services provided:
    1. Serves as contact person for prospective students
    2. Reviews applications for program admission
    3. Chairs program advisory committee
    4. Assigns advisors and arranges comprehensive exams
    5. Develops program assessment plan and facilitates collection of assessment data from faculty
    6. Coordinates periodic review of curriculum, admission requirements, etc.
