Alternate Route to Teacher Certification (ARTC) Master’s Degree Programs at WKU

WKU offers ARTC master’s degree programs in Middle Grades and Secondary Education, and in Exceptional Education: Learning and Behavioral Disorders.

WKU does not offer a master’s program designed as an alternate route to teacher certification in Elementary Education. If you have already completed a bachelor’s degree but not in education, and now want to earn certification for elementary education, click here for further information about post-baccalaureate certification-only in Elementary Education.

If you have already completed a bachelor’s degree but not in education, and now want to earn certification in Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education (IECE), you may be eligible for admission to the master’s degree program in IECE. Admission to the MAE program in IECE does not require current certification in IECE, and graduates of the program are eligible to apply for initial certification.
