MS II Cadets
NAME: Edward Brown
MAJOR: News/Editorial Journalism
HOMETOWN: Albany, KY
WHY I CHOSE WKU FOR COLLEGE: I chose WKU because I had visited the
campus at a young age and loved the beautiful environment of the school. I knew that WKU had on of the best journalism programs in the nation and I wanted to get into it very much. I also found that out of the many schools that I spoke to about ROTC, WKU Hilltopper Battalion was the best and most professional.
ABOUT ME: I’m a Sophmore here at WKU. I come from a small farm town and I have a deep love and respect of the outdoors and nature. I love weight lifting, physical fitness, videogames, reading, music, art, movies, hunting, and spending time with my friends. I did not do JROTC, and while it definitely would have helped, ROTC opened its doors wide open when I arrived.
FUTURE GOALS: I want to get my bachelors in News/Editorial Journalism and commission in the U.S. Army. My long term goal is to branch Infantry, attend RANGER School, and someday join the Army Special Forces. Right now, I just want to stay in the best shape, physically and mentally, and be the best student and cadet that I can. |

JROTC cadet for four years in high school. I have been employed at Wal-Mart since I was 16. In high school I was mainly involved with JROTC teams some to include: Raider Team, Marksmanship Team, and Orienteering Team. Furthermore, I participated in the varsity Cross Country Team my senior year.
FUTURE GOALS: Graduate WKU with a BA in Mechanical Engineering and earn my commission as an officer in the much respected U.S. Army; explore the world for a few years in the Army as see what it has to offer me. I have some thoughts down the road of either going the Army Corps of Engineers route, or becoming a district or human resources manager for Wal-Mart.

NAME: Richard Skinner
MAJOR: History
HOMETOWN: Radcliff, KY
HIGH SCHOOL: John Hardin High School
WHY I CHOSE WKU FOR COLLEGE: I came to WKU honestly because of my friends from my hometown. However, even though a majority of them didn't come back for the following year, I've made new friends through the ROTC program. In addition, Big Red is awesome! Who doesn't love a hilltop for a mascot?
ABOUT ME: This is my second year at Western. In my spare time, I like to take naps, read, cruise around Bowling Green, lift weights, and hang out with my crew. I've grown to become dedicated to the ROTC program by getting involve in Ranger Challenge, keeping up attendance, and more importantly, encouraging incoming cadets. I'm overall a nice guy you can rely on.
FUTURE GOALS: The first goal to come to mind is to graduate. Next, I'm not sure. Of course, I'll be commissioned as a 2nd LT in two and a half years. I'm thinking about either branching in the Chaplaincy, Military Police, or Military Intelligence. If I can't decide, then the Army will put me where I am most needed. Either way, I'll be serving my country. |
