('97) emailed on 17Mar04:  "I was one of the soldiers to be activated for Operation Iraqi Freedom.  Unfortunately, I was hand picked to be cross-leveled to take over the executive officer position for a Reserve Combat Engineer unit out of Fort Thomas, KY (Cincinnati).  This happened two days after starting my new job with CSX Transportation/Rail Road and one month after marrying my lovely wife, Kimberly.  Well, I have since return and resumed my job as the Assistant Roadmaster for the Big Sandy Subdivision.  I am responsible for the railroad maintenance from Ashland, Ky to Elkhorn City, KY.  I never realized how much the military would prepare me for a career in the engineering department of a major railroad.  There is a defined rank structure here and supervisors are actually referred to as "officers."  In one of my classes, the instructor actually pulled out the FM100 series on Leadership.  It is amazing and I love every minute of it.  Well, maybe not the phone calls at 2 am on Sunday morning advising me of a broken rail.  Regrettably, the railroad consumes a vast majority of my time and my wife the remainer and I have made the decision to leave the active reserves and request an IMA assignment as there are no captain slots, especially engineers within 70 miles of me.  Eddie Lowe, Asst. Roadmaster, CSX Transportation."  His email is Eddie_Lowe@CSX.com
