Crafton, LTC (Ret), Toby ('80) emailed on 2 January 2007: "I was surfing today and realized my info is way out of date. I am still working for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta, but was hired as a Civil Servant in March 2003. I have changed jobs however, and am now working in the National Center for Infectious Diseases as the Operations Officer in the Influenza Coordination Unit. This unit is primarily responsible for Pandemic Influenza planning and preparations for the CDC.
My wife Tina is the Nurse Manager for an Occupational Health clinic here and my oldest son Todd graduated from Georgia Tech and is teaching 8th grade social studies and my youngest son Tyler is a sophomore at Kennesaw State University studying Art History in hopes of becoming a museum curator at some point." TUCKER, LTC Steven (May87) emailed on 18Feb06: "Pam, the boys and I are at Fort Detrick, MD. I am currently the commander for 302d Signal Bn. ATWELL, LTC Bobby R., ('88) emailed in Feb06: "I am currently assigned to the Human Resources Command (HRC) in Alexandria, Virginia as the Field Grade Assignment Officer for the Military Police Corps. Prior to this assignment, my family and I were stationed at Fort Bragg, NC. While at Bragg, I was the Battalion XO, 503rd MP Battalion (ABN) and the Brigade S3 for the 16th MP Brigade (ABN) for three years. During this three year assignment, I deployed three times to Afghanistan and Iraq were I had the pleasure of serving the Army and fighting against the War on Terrorism. Recently, I was selected for Battalion Command and hope to get assigned to Fort Campbell, Kentucky. My family and I currently reside in Burke, Va. LOGAN, Tammy ('81) emailed in Jan05: "I went back to work for a very small startup called SignalWorks and the company was bought by Cisco Systems in 2003. Betwreen working half-time here and running kids around, we stay very busy. Alex is now 9 and Rachel is 6 (and 1/2 she would add). Chris and I have both been helping out with Boy Scouts, Brownies, coaching, Sunday school and classroom help. In fact our senior pastor thought that I worked for the local elementary school district! We visit Ky about once per year but don't make it to the Hill very often. We managed to fly in to visit Henderson on Christmas Day in 2004. VAJNER, MAJ Todd (’87) emailed in Dec04. After his 2000-01 tour in Bosnia, he deployed to Afghanistan with Civil Affairs in the spring of 2002. He returned home and got a job teaching ROTC at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Indiana. After LDAC (advanced camp) at Fort Lewis, WA, he was notified that he would be going to Iraq. He was deployed 2003-04, and returned to teaching in Nov04. Reed, LTC (P) Stevenson L. ('82) will be promoted to Colonel in Jan-Feb05. He'll relinquish command of 3-62 ADA at Fort Drum, NY on 20 Jul 2004 and assume the position of Director of Air Defense Artillery Test and Evaluation Directorate at Fort Bliss, TX on 15 Aug 2004. Fuller, Bryan Scott ('81) has lived in Huntsville, Alabama since 1985. Leaving active duty in 1989, he then joined, and subsequently retired from the Alabama Army National Guard in 2002. Working as a defense industry contractor and part-time adjunct university instructor since his departure from active duty, Scott now works for SYColeman Corporation in Huntsville as a program analyst supporting the Ground Based Mid-Course Missile Defense System. Jircitano, LTC Valerie (’85) took command at Fort Drum, NY in Jun03. Soon after, her unit deployed to Afghanistan. She emailed on 28Mar04: “My unit and I will leave in April back to Fort Drum. The big Army is undergoing another transformation and we will now make Brigade Troops Battalions for the new UAs (Unit of Actions) where the MI, MPs, SC, and Eng will all be within the same unit; one company each for MI, ENG and SC and one platoon of MPs. Dan Bacon ('83) - after leaving active duty in Aug88, he lived and worked in Jacksonville, FL and Ft Smith, AR. In June 2002, he moved back to Prospect, KY. Major (Ret) Cain E. Roberts, Jr. ('80) retired 1Oct03 with 22 years of active commissioned service in the Adjutant General Corps. My job title is the Assistant Project Manager for Adjutant General Contract operations at Fort Lee, Virginia. Dr. (MAJ) Carl Spear - emailed 30Sep03: Early Commissioned '85, graduated '87. Graduated from University of Alabama School of Optometry 1991. Active duty, 24th ID, Fort Benning, GA,1991-94. He left AD and has been in and out of the Reserves since 1994. Currently branched Civil Affairs and has been on active duty since Jan 2003. Just returned from Iraq and is at Fort Bragg for the next couple of months. "It looks like I willl be mobilized for another year and spend a lot of time in Latin America. In the civilian world I have a private Optometric/Ophthalmology practice in Navarre, Florida and do consulting work for a Pharmaceutical company. Thanks for the web site. Gary A. Green ('82) emailed in Mar03. After commissioning, he was assigned to Korea where he met his wife of 20 years. They have two children, son Jesse, who's in college, and daughter, Rebecca, a freshman in high school. He got out of the army in 1990 and they lived in California for five years before moving to the Phoenix area. He's currently a pre-sales engineer with Insight, a large computer reseller. MAJ Kevin Clark ('82) retired on 1 Jan 2001 with over 26 years of service. He retired as the Executive Officer, 2d Bn, 351st Infantry Regt (OC-T), Camp Blanding Training Site, Florida. For his new career, he'll be the Deputy Director for the Florida Youth Challenge Academy. MAJ Thom Owens ('88) and his wife, Tonya, have two girls (Rachel is 7 and Madison is 3-1/2). They have been at Fort Bragg since he left command in Oct96. He spent a year completing the FA 39 program and another year getting a Masters of Science in International Relations from Troy State University; then completed 6 months of language training (French) at the JFKSWCS. In Jan99, he was assigned to the PACOM Psychological Operations Battalion (Abn) as a PSYOP Officer, spending a lot of time in Asia planning and conducting exercises in the Phillipines, Korea and Thailand. MAJ Sandra Lanter Raynor ('84) is the commander of C Company/368th MI Bn, USAR in Phoenix, Arizona. She's been in command for 11 months and her company was recently awarded the "Best Company" in the 63d Regional Support Command (12,000 soldiers strong). After taking a leave from her civilian job, she's on active duty until October 2001 working as the Project Manager for the Joint Reserve Intelligence Center in Phoenix. MAJ Todd Vajner ('87) was deployed as the CIMIC (Civil-Military Cooperation) Battalion S2 for Task Force Eagle in Tuzia, Bosnia from Aug00-Feb01. He hopes to attend CGSC when he returns home. Leslie Stewart Scott ('85) left active duty as a Captain in 1991. She obtained her BFA in graphic design from the Corcoran School of Art in 1998, and is employed by BRTRC Technology Research Corporation as a graphic designer. LTC David Veech ('81) is teaching Contracting, Quality, and Manufacturing-related courses at the Defense Acquisition University, Wright Patterson Campus. He has also worked with the Knowledge Deployment Team of the Lean Aerospace Initiative, a consortium of universities, government agencies, and aerospace industry firms working to increase productivity and decrease costs in producing military and commercial aircraft; and with the University of Kentucky Center for Robotics and Manufacturing Systems helping to facilitate their Lean Manufacturing Simulation. Mark Pfefferman ('84) - after SOBC, CSEOC and jump school he was assigned to Berlin, Germany; then attended SOAC and the TOOC course. Went to Division Signal Office at Fort Campbell and took command of C Co, 501st Signal Office, then command of C Co, 501st Signal Bn. He spent 19 months in command during Desert Shield and Desert Storm; selected for graduate school and attended the Air Force Institute of Technology at Wright-Patterson AFB. Decided to take the VSI option and got out in 1994. After completing masters in Computer Science, he took a project manager job in Cincinnati; in 1998, joined Origin Technology in Business to manage the Software Development Cener. He and Cindy live in Kentucky with their four children. Mark is still in the Reserve and drills with the 12th RTU at Fort Knox.
Shawn Stovall ('89) left active duty after 6-1/2 years; his last duty station was Fort Carson, CO. He's now a Career Consultant for a consulting firm in Cincinnati, Ohio. Tamara L. Logan ('81) - after leaving active duty, she started working at Lockheed in the San Francisco Bay area of California. CPTs (Ret) Neil ('81) and Marcia ('80) send the following update for friends: Marcia resigned from active duty in 1989 and earned her MBA in Quantitative Methods from Syracuse University. In 1992 she took a job as a Statistician for the Center for Disease Contol in Atlanta. Neil received a medical retirement soon after and he and the kids moved south to Atlanta. Both are now retired Captains. Neil is a full time organic vegetable/fruit and goat farmer. He also contracts with the VA, helping disabled vets with home modifications. Hayden Pillow ('84) is a Major in the 8th Bde, 100th Division, US Army Reserve. Since leaving active duty in 1995, he has lived in Bowling Green with his wife and two sons and works at the Post Office. One day a week he travels to Middle Tennessee State University where he is the Training Officer for the ROTC program.

Leaving active duty in 1989, I have worked in the Defense Industry and retired from the Alabama National Guard in 2002. I continue to work for SYColeman Corporation as the Deputy Director for Program Support to the Missile Defense Agency supporting the site activation and facility construction for the Ballistic Missile Defense System."
